Hello guys, it’s Lara here, the office manager at Clementine Com. Over my career I’ve worked across a number of different industries, but since starting at Clementine Com I’ve discovered a whole new world of PR and communications. It’s fast-paced, ever-changing and brilliant. Here are a few top tips I’ve picked up over the years which helps me be the best office manager, ever (probably).
- Organisation
I think this goes without saying – organisation is key. You have to oversee everything that’s going on. From send outs, to invoices, to knowing who’s where and when. Liaising with suppliers and keeping everything running smoothly day-to-day.
2. Problem solving
Working in PR, when there’s so many spinning plates, there are times when things go wrong. So as an office manager, you’ve got to be able to think on your feet and solve the problems there and then.
3. Be a people-person
Being an office manager is so much more than making sure there’s enough stationary. We look after employee happiness, safety, retention… the list goes on. A big part of this is being a people person, making sure that all employees feel comfortable to come for a chat and be a voice for the employees if needed. After all, happy employees = productive employees!
It’s all in a day’s work, though. A fantastic part of working at Clementine is the extensive training we provide; the PRCA offers a huge array of different courses, so if there’s something you need to work on you can find the training session/ course best suited for your goals.
