Nina’s PR experience in London

I am Nina Simonin and I just completed my internship at Clementine Communications agency as part of ‘Programme Erasmus’. This program gives the opportunity to unemployed people to apply for an internship in Europe. How does it work? You choose your destination and apply for it motivating the reasons of your decision. In my case it was London because I was looking for the dynamism of this city, the people and the culture. Last, but not least for the English working culture!

I was very lucky because I felt welcomed at Clementine communication agency. This is exactly my sector: PR relations. The are specialized in the lifestyle, food and drinks so I was happy to help the office planning the events (Friarwood tastings, CC Showcase 2017, Cointreau Blood Orange) and being present to support the team daily as much as I could: creating media profiles, doing press coverage, answering different requests on the phone, sending samples to the journalists, writing some contents, finding ideas for briefs but also, each week, living amazing experiences, such as tasting beautiful wines (cherry on the cake!).

The clients are all part of the luxury world and they promote such quality products. It was very useful to be part of this. At the same time, because I was living behind the scenes, I better understood that there is a lot of work and dedication. You never count working hours, you have to be precise and pay attention to every detail, you need to be excellent!  The team in the agency is really dedicated to its work. You live PR, you eat PR, you drink PR! It is a job that involves life, passion, very challenging and rigorous but simply beautiful.

After the 3 months I decided I would love to stay in London to improve my verbal and writing skills as much I can. I like the PR job but if you can’t communicate with the journalists, convincing them, telling them a ‘story’, that can be very tough. I suggest to attend many ‘Meetup events’ to meet new people from all around the world (London is such cosmopolite!), to know lovely venues (I went to Mahiki bar in Mayfair recently) and to speak English in a fun way.
