A day of gourmandise and generosity with Pierre Hermé Paris

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th March Pierre Hermé Paris invites you to celebrate France’s most famous and colourful sweet, the Macaron.

For the 6th year running in the UK, Macaron Day will serve as a creative act of public awareness for a good cause – fighting for a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis. Pierre Hermé Paris will offer special macaron flavours and activities in store exclusively for the weekend of 19th March, with proceeds donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Macaron Day is an international event created by the members of France’s elite ‘Haute Pâtisserie’ organisation, the Relais Desserts. It will be celebrated by 62 pastry chefs across France and abroad, in 160 boutiques.

For this unique yearly event, all Pierre Hermé Paris boutiques will offer a selection of 25 emblematic flavours. The weekend serves as an opportunity to discover or rediscover the universe of tastes, sensations and pleasures created by the man that Vogue dubbed “the Picasso of Pastry”.

As well as offering a macaron to everyone who makes a donation, the Maison Pierre Hermé Paris will donate a percentage of its sales from Macaron Day to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

One donation, one macaron! Fighting for a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis

More than the simple pleasure of taste, this day is oriented towards solidarity action. In 2016, Pierre Hermé Paris will once again be supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening, inherited disease caused by a faulty gene. This gene controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells, so the lungs and digestive system become clogged with mucus,
making it hard to breathe and digest food. People with cystic fibrosis often look perfectly healthy. But it’s a lifelong challenge involving a vast daily intake of drugs, time-consuming physiotherapy and isolation from others with the condition. It places a huge burden on those around them and the condition can critically escalate at any moment. There are over 10,000 people with cystic fibrosis in the UK.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to beating cystic fibrosis and to lifting the limits it imposes on the thousands who are touched by this devastating genetic condition.

Money raised by events such as Macaron Day is invested by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in world-class innovation and research; unrivalled information and support for those affected by the condition; and campaigns and projects to improve health and wellbeing for all people living with cystic fibrosis.

Claire Phillips, The Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s Community Development Fundraising Manager, says, “The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is very grateful to Pierre Hermé Paris for supporting the Trust. Macarons are irresistible and we hope that they will raise vital funds to continue our work to improve the lives of those with cystic fibrosis. We rely on the generosity of the public to continue the fight to beat cystic fibrosis for good and thank everyone who supports us.”

Clementine Communications will be in the Pierre Hermé Paris boutiques on Saturday to support this wonderful initiative. We are looking forward to meet you there!

More than ever, on the 19th and 20th March, without a doubt, the message is simple and noble: One donation, one macaron!
