‘All of us every single year, we are a different person. I do not think we are the same person all our lives’ said master of celluloid, Steven Speilberg. A firm four days into 2016, and already, having come to the end of the first working Monday, it might be tempting for many to look at who they are planning to be this year, taking motivation and welcome distraction from those who do… On that note, here follow the team’s monthly pick of active bloggers…
1. Tamarind and Thyme
We begin with the ever cheerful, long-term blogger, Su-Lin, who was born in Kuala Lumpur, and grew up in Malaysia, Singapore and Canada; she now lives in the city she has made her muse – London. Aware of the city’s potentially high prices when it comes to dining out, though, Su-Lin predominantly enjoys uncovering and sharing information about good budget restaurants as well as her domestic cooking machinations, often using produce from her bountiful vegetable garden. We very much liked the look of her Christmas Day hotpot!
2. The Lifestyle Diaries
Suffolk and London based Lauren, who has also found her spiritual home in Rennes in France, documents her culinary adventures throughout the top restaurants of the capital, from Roka to Yauatcha, via Roux at the Landau… We like her upbeat turn of phrase, as demonstrated in a recent post on Levant pop-up, Ceru – ‘One the best things about London having such a fantastic foodie scene is that you can travel across continents without paying for the expensive plane ticket…’ So true. However, we eagerly await her posts from New Zealand, which she is currently visiting.
3. King of Dhaka
And now for someone completely different. Shahzaman Mozumder brings plentiful panache to the daily grind. Using himself as model, the manager of 200 people at an IT company in India dispenses visual advice on matters of sartorial elegance. Be aware – his posts are somewhat addictive…
