At Romania’s largest winery, Cramele Recas, the team always look to the future. From converting all of their wines to vegan a few years ago, the winery have now installed solar panels at their main winery with the aim to produce at least 70% of the electricity needed.
Founded by Bristol-born Philip Cox in 1998, Cramele Recas has enjoyed huge success around the world. The winery has expanded exponentially over the years and the 2020 harvest yielded over 28,500 tonnes of grapes.
Following successful launches in the UK market last year, such as the Sorcova Pinot Noir and Sorcova Pinot Grigio in Waitrose, the winery is celebrating two new wines in Aldi: Dealuri Feteasca Regala and Dealuri Romanian Rose.
The winery focuses on producing wine you want to drink, with a strong focus on great value, quality wine. Now, their wines have the added benefit of being more sustainable. Sustainability has been the matter of conversation in the wine world of late, with Jancis Robinson driving the conversation regarding the weight of bottles and shipping.
The journey to true sustainability is long, but if all wineries begin to follow in the footsteps of Cramele Recas, then the wine we enjoy today can be enjoyed for generations and generations to come.
