Babich Wines of New Zealand is proud to announce a new partnership with the UK based charity, Frank Water from the 1st of April 2022. They will be supporting the charity as a “Monsoon Maker” partner, contributing towards funding, events and activities in the UK and around the world.

Protecting the environment is a responsibility shared by us all and it has been a way of life at Babich Wines since 1916. Their sustainable winemaking techniques and conscious efforts to conserve water in the vineyards are paving the way for future generations.

Some of the sustainable practices in their winemaking include increasing their water storage capacity so that 85% of the vineyards are irrigated by pre-stored water and they ensure that native shrubs and trees are planted alongside waterways to create habitats for aquatic, insect and bird life whilst also reducing silting

Frank Water works globally, providing safe water and sanitation to the world’s most marginalised communities and educating those of us that have clean water on tap, about the water crisis and the need to protect and conserve this precious resource. Their vision is of a water-secure future where the world’s water sources are protected from the impact of the climate crisis and where everyone, everywhere has long term access to safe water.
This strong synergy between the values and company ethos at Babich Wines, and the amazing projects that Frank Water are carrying out across the world, led to the easy decision to enter into this partnership. Thanks to partnerships like this one, the people at Frank Water can bring safe water, toilets and good hygiene to marginalised communities, they can research new ways to improve water security, and they can continue to campaign for action to address the water crisis.
Chris Quin, Babich Wines’ UK and Europe Business Manager, says “At Babich, we are supremely grateful to be able to make a contribution to improving the health and wellbeing of people who don’t have access to clean water. Because although producing and drinking wine is a privilege we appreciate, and have done for generations, drinking water is vital to life.”
Katie Alcott MBE, Founder and CEO of Frank Water, says “We’re delighted and proud to be supported by Babich, a renowned winery with a long history of sustainable wine practices and water conservation. We believe this partnership is a demonstration of their ongoing commitment to raising awareness of water inequality and insecurity around the world. We look forward to working together to improve the lives of those most in need and the planet through better water access and management.”
