This week, we’re introducing you to our charming client, Cecile Roudaut, and her journey to becoming the Master Blender at St-Rémy.
Cecile Roudaut brandy began her career in cosmetics where she worked with high quality raw ingredients to create refined finished products. The colours, textures and scents ignited a sense of creativity and a willingness to work with superb materials.
Having grown up around wine she was drawn in by the ever changing possibilities and excitement of the wine making industry that relying on a harvest brings. She learned under the guardianship of the previous St-Remy Master Blender and has now taken on the role as her own.
Cecile equates the balance of flavours and the process of making the brandy to that of a conductor and a symphony. On the nose “each aroma must be harmonious and not discordant or harsh. Like with creating music it is part intelligence and part art. We do not know the end result but we have its spirit in mind”. She must understand each element bring them together in perfect harmony. This is one of the reasons she does not listen to music whist working, preferring “the silence and the clinking of glasses and vials colliding”.
We are really looking forward to tasting the next limited edition expression.
