A-brim with lectures and demo bars, the ninth edition of Bar Convent, the leading trade and press bar and beverage-based event, takes place in Berlin, 6-7th October. This year, an anticipated 10,000 visitors will encounter over 550 brands care of 200 exhibitors spanning 12,500 square metres.
Performing over eight stages, the lecture series, in collaboration with ‘Mixology Magazine’ features 70 highly-spirited speakers, ranging from: Felipe Januzzi from São Paulo who will be exploring a ‘Mapa da Cachaça’ in ‘Artisanal Cachaça Explained’, while Jörg Meyer makes the short journey from Hamburg to advise on ‘How to build and market your first bar’. Authors, Phil Duff and Jeffrey Morgenthaler from the U.S. will speak about ‘how to bring new spirits to life’ and ‘What I’ve learned about bartending’ respectively, while, at the other end of the spectrum, antique spirits specialist, Edgar Harden, an expat Canadian based in the UK, will share with guests his absorbing journey into the world of antique spirits.
Harden told Clementine Communications, “The Old Spirits Company is presenting vintage spirits at this year’s B.C.B., where we will we give a general background talk, a more focused consideration of one brand over the decades and the changes that it underwent — a key feature of this section of the talk will be to discuss how the taste profile changed over time, something that the Old Sprits Company is uniquely qualified to do — followed by three 30cl vintage cocktails, using ingredients from the 1950s-70s, and possibly older depending upon what the O.S.C. acquires in the meantime…”
Meanwhile, Brew Berlin adds a beer-in-bars platform to the Bar Convent.
