It’s official. The news we were all expecting, but didn’t want. England is moving into more restricted national measures to curb the coronavirus outbreak.
Like many others now, we have been working from home for some time. But often we forget some of the key basics for productivity and importantly, our happiness.
As the nights draw in, it’s more important than ever to keep our mental wellbeing in good form. And healthy work-from-home habits are crucial in doing so.
If you need a refresher, here are our top tips:
Set and stick to a routine
Don’t blur the lines between work and personal time. It’s so important to have the natural separation of office life and home life.
Have a dedicated work space
Get comfortable! After working from home for an extended period of time, we should all know what environment we work best in. Do you need quiet? Do you prefer the background noise of the television? Find out what suits your needs and stick to it.
Having a dedicated work space doesn’t have to be devoid of comforts at all. As long as you’re in the dedicated work zone you should have all the necessary tools to perform to the best of your ability.
Stay connected
We recently read Rebecca Seal’s fantastic book, ‘Solo: How To Work Alone & Not Lose Your Mind’ and one of her top pieces of advice is knowing the difference between solitude and loneliness. Sometimes your may feel isolated, but always remember that you’re part of the wider team and there are tonnes of ways to stay connected and in touch with those that matter.
If you’re working solo, even if you don’t necessarily have a ‘team’ – there’s a network of people around you who you can rely on for support.
