Some exciting news to share on this sunny Friday here in London, the Festival Franciacorta in Cantina, Italy is back! We’re welcoming the news with open arms, especially after such a turbulent year. It’s wonderful to hear that there are signs of normality resuming and pockets of activity happening around the world.
The Festival Franciacorta will take you on a weekend tour to discover the birthplace of Franciacorta, through open wine cellars, gastronomic discoveries and exciting cultural and sports initiatives. The allure of Franciacorta really is like no other, with monasteries and historical mansions in the vineyards, the experiences laid out will be truly spectacular.
Due to the current situation, the Festival will span two weekends, allowing visitors to spread out, in consideration of the limited number of guests for all the activities imposed by the legislation in force to contain the spread of the virus. The idea is to intensify and enhance the program and increase the number of visitors that the local wineries and the hospitality industry can adapt.
The 62 participating wineries will be open both weekends and will organize the usual guided tours and tastings, with special events like vineyard strolls, picnics between the rows, bike rides, etc. The program will be at the same level on both weekends to allow visitors to enjoy the same variety and quality of the entertainment offered.
Now in its eleventh edition, the Festival will surprise you with compelling activities and a rich program of fun and educational initiatives with a food & wine as well as cultural scope. The event is for everyone: from wine enthusiasts, who can book vertical and theme tastings, to food lovers, who will enjoy the mouthwatering specials prepared by local restaurants and chefs, a blend of tradition and innovation. Ample space will be devoted to sportspeople, who will have an opportunity to trek or cycle amidst the vineyards and up and down the hills, as well as to families, with fun games and picnics in contact with nature. Also, there will be no better opportunity to wander around and admire the many monuments of historical interest – the castles, monasteries and museums that dot the “Route of Franciacorta”, along which art lovers can choose from charming hamlets, abbeys and villas immersed in their lush gardens.
The main destinations will obviously be the wine cellars, where original and fanciful events have been designed for visitors’ enjoyment. Winery visits will be by reservation only – please contact the wineries directly. Unless otherwise stated, the opening times will be 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 7pm. On the evening of Saturday, September 19th, an “Open Night” will be held, with wineries and restaurants open until late and featuring exclusive programs.
