Now that spring is coming why not celebrate the Chelsea Flower Show with a new botanically-rich afternoon tea at the five-star Sofitel London St James, launching on Monday 1st of May.
This May will see the launch of a new Chelsea Flower Show cocktail and accompanying elderflower, violet and poppy-scented afternoon tea at the Sofitel London St James. Both will be available within the hotel’s sumptuous Rose Lounge, where a harpist strums daily from 3pm, and elegant The Balcon restaurant. For the duration of the Show, the venue will be festooned with carefully-curated blooms, representing the flavours inherent in the bespoke Edgerton Pink Gin cocktail and accompanying homemade pastries.
Available throughout the month, the Chelsea Flower Show afternoon tea will feature three delectable new pastries, in flavours of elderflower, violet and poppy. ‘Elderflower’ will combine a tonka bean sablé and peach confit with airy elderflower mousse. ‘Violet’, a cheesecake, layers a Sablé Breton with violet and grape compote and ricotta, while ‘Poppy’ features seasonal strawberry preserve, pistachio croquant and poppy mousseline cream.
The vibrant accompanying new Cocktail, exclusively devised with the Flower Show in mind, will combine freshly squeezed lime juice, violet syrup, passion fruit juice and rose liqueur with one of London’s most striking gins. Featuring fifteen hand-picked botanicals – including orris root, grains of paradise, supposed aphrodisiac damiana, and notably healthful pomegranate – Edgerton lays claim to being the world’s first pink gin.
The cocktail is one in a new chapter of serves imagined by a dynamic troupe of bartenders at the St James Bar, including Bar Manager Enzo, and his colleague, Kostas.
Occupying the former grand banking hall of Cox’s and King’s, the iconic grade II- listed Sofitel London St James offers visitors and guests a haven just moments from the buzz of Pall Mall, and a welcome refuge from the throngs at the Flower Show – and potential bouts of inclement weather.
